Bottle Hunt icon creation

Hi there, I want to share another our experience. You can see how we did icon for our latest game – Bottle Hunt. Want to tell you that it took 2 working days.

Bottle Hunt – fun gallery shooter, so we wanted also fun icon for our game.
So we started work on it.

Here is progress…

It was only a material for making icon (rendered with Mental Ray). Then we continue work in Photoshop. Then made several variants and choose one we liked more.

Creating menu graphics for our game

In this article we’ll tell about menu creation for Bottle Hunt, which is already available on the appstore
Of course everything starts with idea, so we began work on concept.
The game has photorealistic backgrounds and bottles so we decide that it would be great to make menu in such style.

After simple concept was made, we modeled all main models in 3D editor, then textured them.

After composition process which was made according to the concept we have found that there are a lot of empty spaces, so the whole picture looks not so good as we wish.

So we decide to add: some posters on the walls, lamp, game name, some spare parts of another pistol, newspaper.

So the whole picture became more interesting and fulfilled we started to render using Mental Ray.

After a lot of attempts with various materials reflection, refraction, shining settings we had one variant we liked. But the whole scene was not so deep as we needed. So the way to fix it was ambient occlusion render. After that – we got what we wanted.

Of course we made a little color corrections in Photoshop and added glow effect on lamp after that we had final variant.

All work took about 4 working days – 1 day for models, 1 for texturing and 2 days for composition, settings and rendering… As a result we have unique graphics for Menu in our game!

Secret of Lost Pyramid – icon creation

Everyone knows that success of the iPhone game partly depends on how attractive icon is. So we decide to show you what we did to create good and attractive icon for our second  iPhone game - Secret of Lost Pyramid.

Lots of variants was made to compare and choose the best one. Also we took into consideration that on device icon we will see on the black background and on iTunes page it will be on white one.

Yes –  it takes not one hour to generate an idea, then compose and prepare graphic materials for only one icon, but this work is very important, and the result is  - good icon, games was featured in HOT GAMES section by Apple and games was reviewed on MTR, Appsmile, Pocketgame.co.uk.

We have finished our update.

We have finished our update work.  And only now after work is finished we have recognized what a great work we have done. Here is final list it:

  1. Performance increase 15%
  2. Multiplayer mode – Deathmatch (up to 4 players at the same time, compete their visual memory and reaction)
  3. Three new modes:
    -          Quick Play – Survival game mode.  Mixed visual themes with dynamic escalating difficulty
    -          Time Attack – Mode to strike 60 glyphs with your best time
    -          Count Down – 3 minutes to play, get the best Score
  4. Extra hard difficulty (Insane) for Survival mode
  5. Four new OpenFeint achievements for any type of difficulty
  6. One new great power up – Robot – you can activate Auto – Play for limited time
  7. Four new visual themes (skins)- Plastic, Acid, Doodle, Fur
  8. Voice notifications: pleasant woman computer style voice will tell you about main events
  9. Graphic interface redesigned
  10. Global High Scores for all new modes
  11. News integration
  12. OpenFeint 3.1.2 ready
  13. German localization
  14. Minor bugfix

A lot of that was described in our blog later with a pictures and video. We finish update work and continue work on our future projects with no doubt that we do quality iPhone games.

More skins – more fun (visual themes)

Alien Glyphs beta version is testing now and our team continue polish graphic, because soon we will send update  for approval.

Here is variants of visual themes which you can find in the game: Red Neon, Marble, Ink, Metal (remember that Alien Glyphs available on the AppStore now):

Our team go on with update work. Beta version of Alien Glyphs iPhone game is available now for testing.
Everyone who sent us UDIDs, can download and play.

What’s new in beta version:

- 15% performace increase
- Multiplayer mode via Bluetooth up to 4 players at the same time
- 3 New game modes
- added Insane difficulty for survival mode
- 3 new visual themes
- Voice notifications
- New achievements
- OpenFeint 2.2
- Highscore tables for all new modes and difficulties
